FAQs

Questions to ask yourself
Here are some FAQ’s most commonly ask by peers with in your field.
What Insurance do Health Professionals need?
There are a few types of insurance you may need to protect your business. In our opinion, one of the most important forms of insurance required is Professional Indemnity Insurance. Professional indemnity Insurance helps protect you from the cost of a lawsuit when a client is dissatisfied with your work. In addition to Professional Indemnity Insurance, you may also need other forms of cover. If your work involves dealing with any members of the public, you might also need Public and Products Liability Insurance. Business Insurance is also a good option if you operate out of a physical business premises, and/or have business assets and equipment. Speaking to your broker can help you understand the different options you have so you can make a decision that’s right for you.
Is it mandatory for Health Professionals to hold insurance?
This will depend on your specific field. Some fields are required to hold a minimum level of Professional Indemnity in order to practice, while there are no requirements within others. We recommend checking with your relevant board or association to find out about insurance requirements in your field.
Why do Health Professionals need Public Liability insurance?
Public Liability is an important cover for any business that interacts with members of the public. One of your clients or a member of the public could take a spill and hurt themselves or damage their property on your premises. This could lead to them making a claim against your business, and you could be held liable.

Public Liability insurance includes cover for legal liabilities if a member of the public makes a claim that they were injured, or damage was caused to their property because of your business dealings or on your premises.*
